Our stay at Wacky Stays exceeded our expectations. The covered wagon is just great. We were totally thrilled. The small kitchen in the covered wagon with kettle, crockery and sink is very well equipped for a small breakfast. The outdoor kitchen leaves nothing to be desired. We had a barbecue on New Year's Eve and cooked roast potatoes the next evening. The shower and toilet in the covered wagon offer a lot of luxury for a covered wagon. Our children slept in the small caravan next to it. That was also an experience for the children. Everything was spotlessly clean and the towels smelled freshly laundered. We received a warm welcome and fresh eggs from their own hens. Feeding the animals was a great experience and the young women (work & travel) showed us around and we were also allowed to feed the animals. If you are looking for an unusual place to stay, Wacky Stays is the right place for you. We would book a stay again at any time if the journey from Germany wasn't so far.

Stayed 1 night in the cottage and went for llama taster trek - cottage was very spacious, with most of the original structure preserved, making the stay an unique experience - weather was chilly at night but the walls were well insulated + presence of AC heating. Theres also a fireplace with wood provided if it gets too cold, which is so cool! - linen smelled fresh and clean - presence of heater in bathroom - recycling bins with clear instructions provided - loads of dvd for movie night - loved the llama trek - especially how Kevin emphasised the rapport building and importance of understanding the llamas' perspective. This is truly how animals and humans should interact. - loved that we could observe and participate in the scheduled feeding sessions of the farm animals - location fairly near town of Kaikoura, with clear instructions by Kevin on how to get here

It was unique break away. The farm setting was perfect. The beds were super comfy, plenty of spare blankets if needed… none were, even on one very cold & wet night. The showers were hot with a strong stream of water, that was a pleasant surprise! Everything required for a stay was provided, towels, shampoo, conditioner. Everything required for cooking was provided, barbecue, pizza oven. The toaster & kettle made our stay… old school! Brought back many memories of camping with parents & grandparents! Kevin has done a superb job with his dedication to themed presentation with the bonus enjoyment of farm animals. Both Kevin & staff were helpful when needed also being respectful of our space. We will go back but would look at a different theme for an adventure, it would be hard to choose which one next however!

The tipi was so cool to stay in. Cosy with the heaters on, it was beautiful views. At the moment not only do they have their farm animals but some wee puppies as well. The bed was comfortable to sleep in. I really loved getting some fresh eggs to cook up in my personal BBQ area/kitchen after feeding the chickens. Very lovely friendly animals, a host who is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about his animals. I am so grateful to the host and one of the staff ladies for their kindness when I woke up ill the next morning and they allowed me a little more time to get up and moving. Such a unique and innovative kiwi farm experience! Oh and after thought, the shower is AMAZING!

We LOVED our stay on the train carriage at Wacky Stays, a unique and fun stay that we would thoroughly recommend for young families! We tagged along at the feeding time tour to meet all the animals - this was so great - the llamas and the deer were firm favourites, though the pigs a close second!! On top of this - it was easy to find and we were greeted with a warm welcome by Kevin which included a quick tour/rundown of our accommodation - including a little history about the train itself. Amazing!
